John - "Indiana John"
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
A Kiwi born and bred, but the day after my last university exam I left the country. Lived and travelled abroad for 22 years mostly through Europe. Came back to New Zealand with my Swiss wife where I re-established my love of New Zealand nature setting up Seal Coast Safari 14 years ago.
How long have you been at SCS?
14 years – I started Seal Coast Safari as a life style choice but it soon became a full-time business.
What do you love about your job at SCS?
The great outdoors... I love showing off New Zealand nature at its best – the sea, the seals, the cliffs!
What do you do in your spare time?
A bit of this, a bit of that. Love coffee. Travel the world. Enjoy a pint.
Any hidden talents?
A closet writer. One day I’ll publish!
Favourite thing about Wellington?
It has a very good 'feel' as you walk the streets. Everything is accessible, more cafes per head than New York.
Most memorable moment at SCS?
Assisting a baby shark escape from a rock pool. Seals, dolphins, sea birds, getting bogged in the sand – lots of memories!
Married? Children? Pets?
Long-time partner, Linda. Two 'boys' – one a ski instructor in Switzerland, the other a barista in London.
Anything else you want to share?
A Seal Coast Safari can be so good it can change your life!
